About Us

Passion, ambition and great work ethic unite students of the Polytechnic School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as well as from other fields of study, to Aristurtle. Their goal is to participate in the international Formula Student competitions with university teams from all over the world. Designed, developed and manufactured within a year, Iris is the third race car the team has built. It is safe, efficient and reliable. Iris raced in the most demanding competitions, impressing professionals and achieving important milestones that show the team’s great effort and the potential of the students that are behind this construction.

Aristotle University Racing Team Electric, also known as Aristurtle, is a research student team of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The team’s department is the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Aristotle University and its members are undergraduate students from various scientific fields. These include Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Architecture, Physics and Economics. Working under the pressure of demanding deadlines, the team’s members broaden their academic knowledge, theoretically and practically and gain great experience.

Responsible to represent the team in the academic community is Minas Alexiadis - Assistant Professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Aristotle University. The supervision of electric race cars is constant and mandatory by the competition rules. Throughout the entire construction process, responsible for the electrical and control systems that will be integrated into the vehicle are three Electrical System Advisors, PhD students in the Electrical Machines Laboratory of the Department. The team’s members are dιvided into 8 subgroups according to their field of studies and talents. All of them are coordinated and organized by the team captain.

Aristurtle’s goal is to design and build electric race cars in order to compete in the international Formula Student competitions against universities from all over the world. Preparing towards this goal its members work in a fully structured professional environment. The team’s vision is to contribute to the upgrading of new technologies in the electric automotive field, in Greece and worldwide, by researching and getting in touch with high-level innovative products and pioneering ideas.
